To be a chaplain for County-Wide Chaplaincy there are some requirements and training that must be met.  All chaplains must be licensed or ordained ministers and they must complete the following interviews and training before the board of directors will give a formal approval.
  1. Initial interview with director

  2. Application approved by the Board of CWC (police check is done on applicant)

  3. Ride along with mentor as an observer (4 ride alongs)

  4. Police and Sheriff ride along (6 hours)

  5. Orientation to department to be served

  6. Mentor observes candidate (4 incidents)

  7. CWC Board interview with approval

  8. Receive and sign for equipment

Chaplains continue to attend ongoing seminars and trainings as they come available to continue equipping them with the skills they will need in trauma intervention.  Some of the more common training seminars that Chaplains attend are put on by the Tacoma-Pierce County Chaplaincy and the ICPC or International Conference of Police Chaplains.
